Administrative History | The board discussed forming a District Combination Poorhouse in October 1862, and again in 1865, but these plans didn't progress. The board did operate a "House for the Helpless Poor" at 6 Carmelite Street. In September 1863 the keeper Mrs Black, was dismissed for giving birth to an illegitimate child and replaced that October by Mrs Reid.
The board also played a role in the burgh's soup kitchen and the administration of Cassy's Fund. |
