Administrative History | Established by a codicil, dated 8 May 1865, to the Deed of Settlement of Miss Elizabeth Russel and Miss Grace Russel, daughters of the late Thomas Russel Esquire of Rathen. The Misses Russel left £6,000 to the Provost and Bailies of Banff, the clergymen of the Established Church and the Scottish Episcopal Church to found an institution for the relief of old women of Banff. Applicants were required to be female, 55 years or older, of good character, not in receipt of poor relief, and resident in Banff for seven years previous to the application. |
