Administrative History | Alexander Wood (1836-1895), merchant, was active in the community in Stonehaven. He joined the Committee of the Association of Feuars of the New Town (New Town Council) in 1862, and became its chair or provost in 1876, a post he held until 1889 when the Police Commissioners replaced the New Town Council. He later stood for position of Councillor on Kincardine County Council in 1890, and also served as director of the town's Gas Company, governor of Stonehaven Savings Bank, harbour trustee, chairman of the Town’s Band Committee and was a member of Fetteresso School Board. He married and had three sons (Alexander, Harold and William) and six daughters. |
