Administrative History | New Leeds Special Water Supply District was first discussed at County Council level in 1933, and approved in 1935.
The following year a Special Drainage District was discussed and deferred, but approved in 1937, based on the boundaries of the Special Water Supply District.
In 1939 a Special Scavenging District followed, based on the same boundaries.
In 1946 the local ratepayers requisitioned a Special Lighting District, but a decision by the County Council was deferred pending the results of a survey being carried out in the area by Grampian Electricty Supply Company, to see if it was worth running electricity to the village. There was not enough interest in electricity, so the Lighting District was deferred, and deferred again in 1950.
The Scavenging District was adopted into the county in 1949, and the drainage and the finally-installed lighting were adopted in 1968. |
