Administrative HistoryWaterton Special Water Supply and Drainage District formed by the parochial authorities before the County Council system was set up in 1890. In that year, Aberdeen County Council loaned them £2,900 for a new water supply for Newhills, which was part of the district. By 1896, the Water Supply and Drainage Districts had combined. Waterton Special Lighting & Scavenging District was founded in 1896, using the same boundaries.

The plan was at this point to power new electric ones for both Dyce and Waterton from surplus electricity at Parkhill Pumping Station. However, the agreement fell through, and in 1904, the idea was that the lighting would be powered by gas purchased from Aberdeen Town Council.

Waterton named its street and numbered its houses in 1914, as authorised by Sect.10 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1908. Waterton Special Districts combined with Dyce Special Districts in 1932.
