Administrative History | The Reid and Burnett Endowment belonged to Banchory-Ternan Central Public School (see ED/GR6S/K6), and was held and administered under the will and testament of Alexander Reid, Doctor of Medicine, dated 1 Feb 1639 and proved in London on 27 Jan 1641, and the Deed of Mortification of W. Alexander Burnett, Indweller and Agent in Edinburgh. The two endowments were amalgamated in 1893 under the Educational Endowment (Scotland) Act, 1882, and transferred to the Banchory-Ternan School Board. The Endowment awarded four annual bursaries after competitive exams among pupils attending public or state-aided schools in the parish of Banchory-Ternan. |
