Administrative History | Fettercairn Special Water Supply District was in place by 1890, with a starting rate of 6d. in the pound. The District borrowed £260 in 1890 to set up a water supply. The Special Drainage District was set up even earlier, in 1883, but no scheme of drainage had been set up and the district only covered the lower part of the village. Some provision must have been made for drainage, for the County Council approved expenditure on replacing old fittings in 1895. The Special Water Supply District was extended in 1900, and both districts were enlarged in 1908. A Special Scavenging District was proposed by the Local Committee on Public Health in 1947, and approved. A Special Lighting District was set up in 1950, and lighting installed at a cost of £240. The
Special Scavenging District was one of those not dissolved in 1961 to make way for the County refuse scheme. |
