| Description | Council meeting, 20 April 1804 [Sederunt given] The Council granted the application from James Gibbon, merchant, on behalf of the members of the Aberdeen Whale Fishing Company, for continued use of their boilhouse and sheds. The Council allowed the Company to continue in possession of the buildings for one year for the rent of £30. (157v)
The Council considered the offer from Messrs Brebner Gibbon & Company, brewers in Aberdeen, to make an annual payment of £15 in lieu of their grain multures of £25, owing to a decline in their business and the fact that it was the only brewery liable to the Town's multures. The Council granted to Brebner Gibbon & Company a tack for three years of the multures of grain used by them in brewing malt liquor (which would otherwise be payable to the Tacksman of the Town's Mills), at the yearly rent of £15. (157v - 157r)
The Council authorised the Treasurer to pay to James Smith, Tacksman of the Town's Mills, the amount of any increase in value of the Town's Mills since the valuation taken at his entry to the lease at Whitsunday 1801. The Council resolved that the articles of roup for the new lease of the Town's Mills should oblige the tacksman to maintain the value of the Mills, and should limit the Treasurer's liability for any appreciation in value to £30.
