DescriptionCouncil meeting, 28 May 1805
[Sederunt given]
The Council perambulated the Town's Inner Marches, and made the following observations.
First, the Council recommended that the condition of the lane from the Porthill to North Street along the south side of George Annand & Company's brewery, and of the passage from North Street to the Meal Market, both of which were covered with filth and stagnant water, should be reported to the Police Commissioners.
Second, the Council recommended that the proprietors of properties adjoining the ditch at Footdee's Myre should be ordered to clean out the ditch, as the resulting stagnant water had rendered impassable the road from Park Road to the Links, on the north side of Fill the Cap.
Third, the Council recommended that stones should be erected at the east end of the road from Park Road to the Links to prevent carts from using the road.
Fourth, the Council recommended that the march stones removed from the Bowl Road should be replaced.
Fifth, the Council remitted to the magistrates, or any three of them, to meet with the Police Commissioners and the proprietors of ground on the north side of the Bowl Road to negotiate the widening, cleaning and lighting of the Bowl Road.
Sixth, the Council ordered the proprietors of the dock yards at Footdee to repair the road in front of the dock yards; and directed George Turreff to ascertain the owner of the timber on the road leading along John Rae's dock yard to the flood mark, in order that the owner be charged rent for the use of the road.
Seventh, the Council directed Mr Low, Procurator Fiscal, to bring to a conclusion the process raised against James Mackie, shipmaster, concerning his encroachment on the flood mark, opposite his ground and tenements in Footdee.
Eighth, the Council recommended that the bridge or fence erected across the bottom of Robert Mackie's garden at Hardwierd, should be removed.
Ninth, the Council directed Mr Davidson, Town's Agent, to bring complaints for encroachment against John Byres, wright, for erecting a house on part of the Town's Commonty adjoining the Chapel of Ease Croft; and against [an unnamed person] for erecting a house to the west of John Byres' house, which encroached considerably on Town's property.
Tenth, the Council recommended an enquiry into the encroachment on the Denburn by Mr Gildawie, mason, and others, feuars of the Craigwell Croft; and recommended that the boundary between the Denburn and the Craigwell Croft be fixed.
(193v - 194v)

The Council visited the Bridge of Dee and the Bridge of Don, and directed the Master of Kirk and Bridge Works to make the repairs to the Bridge of Dee recommended in the report by Alexander Gildawie, mason. (195r)
