| Description | Council meeting, 9 December 1807 [Sederunt given] The Council remitted to a committee of magistrates the application from Mr Earle of Liverpool, through the Rev Dr Brown, to erect a monument in the West Church in memory of his son who died in Aberdeen two years previously. (45v)
The Council remitted to the Provost and magistrates the application from William Spence, feuer of twenty acres of the Town's Commonty, situated on the south side of the Skene Turnpike Road, for an abatement having failed to find caution. Skene's excuses engrossed. (45v - 46r)
The Council remitted to the magistrates, Dean of Guild and Treasurer, or any three of them, the application from George Henderson, Tacksman of the Town's Mills, requesting a reduction in the rents due by him owing to his being deprived of the use of the Flour Mill while the latter was being rebuilt after a fire. (46r - 46v)
The Council allocated aid from the Poor's Fund to the following applicants: Miss Elizabeth Turner, daughter of the late Mr Turner, Sheriff Substitute and a relation of John Turner, late merchant in Gdansk - £12 (from the said John Turner's mortification to the Guild Box) Christian Thomson and Agnes Thomson, daughters of the late Alexander Thomson, bookseller - £20 (£12 to the former, £8 to the latter) John Gill, late cotton dealer - £6 Jean Burgess, widow of David Walker, shipmaster - £4 Alexander Turreff, son of James Turreff, late merchant - £4 (one of Dr Guild's bursaries) James Turreff, son of the said James Turreff - £3 (one of Jean Guild's bursaries) Alexander Duncan senior, merchant - £8 Alexander Simpson, son of Alexander Simpson, Burgess of Guild - £6 William Naughten, late maltster - £4 Isabel Davidson, widow of George Hutcheon - £5 A child of Mary Smith, widow of James Smith, merchant - £4 (orphan's bursary from Dr Guild's mortification) Christian Hutcheon, widow of George Still, shipmaster - £5 Katharine Lawson, daughter of James Lawson, Burgess - £4 Jean Marr, daughter of William Marr, Burgess - £5 Henry Forsyth, merchant - £4 The following were granted additional sums to their existing pensions from the Poor's Fund: Elspet Chalmers, daughter of William Chalmers - £2 Margaret Henry - £2 Mrs Walker, widow of John Walker, merchant - £4 A child of John Bruce, merchant - £3 (orphan's bursary) James Cruickshank, son of William Cruickshank, merchant - £5 Mrs Young, widow of John Young - £4 James Duncan, son of Robert Duncan, maltster - £1 A grandchild of Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Alexander Smith - £3 (orphan's bursary) May Meston and Ann Meston - £1 each Janet Urquhart, widow of John Allan - £1 Alexander Ross, son of John Ross, late clerk in the Post Office - £3 (orphan's bursary) Alexander Duthie - £2 Mrs Jamieson, widow of William Jamieson, advocate - to be settled for £4 per year. The Council authorised the Treasurer to borrow from Mr George Watt, surgeon in Old Deer, £1000 in addition to the £2000 already borrowed, and the Shoremaster to borrow £1500 from Robert Garden, druggist, to pay off monies owed. Interest on both payable on 20 December 1808. (47v)
