The Provost laid before the Council the second set of resolutions from the Raik Heritors concerning the proposed Harbour Improvements [resolutions given]. The Council considered the resolutions and decided the following; that a new channel on the south side of the River Dee for the discharge of flood water would be dug; that the water of the Denburn and Mill Burn should be received into the Wet Dock providing Mr Telford approved; that the Council had no objection to the Raik Heritors continuing a servitude on a strip of land on the north side of the River; that the Council would provide replacement shots should the fishery be deprived; that the Heritors would be allowed to extend their sea fishing ground to the east by clearing the rocks and stones there following the extension of the South Pier; that the Council would insert a clause in the proposed Act of Parliament entitling the Raik Heritors to indemnification for any damage they should sustain in the course of the Harbour Improvements until the expiry of the tenth season for fishing after the completion of the operations; that should this offer be rejected by the Raik Heritors the Harbour Committee should not delay further the introduction of the Harbour Bill to Parliament.
