| Description | Council meeting, 2 May 1810 [Sederunt given] The Council approved the sale by public roup of the leases of the following subjects: First, the lease for three years of the Town's Common Mills from 26 May 1810 at the current rent of £281 allowing the tenant a melioration for work to be done to the extent of £80 and with the declaration that the tacksman be obliged to repay to the suckeners the duties imposed on malt in 1802 and 1803 together with any future duties that may be imposed. The lease was taken by George Henderson, residing in Aberdeen, on behalf of John Rae, merchant in Aberdeen, at £282 annual rent. Standing caution were George Henderson and William Rae, merchant in Aberdeen. Second, the lease for three years of the Bell and Petty Customs to Convener Alexander Thomson, cooper, on behalf of Alexander Mearns, merchant in Aberdeen, at the annual rent of £298. Standing caution were Alexander Thomson and David Todd, brewer in Aberdeen. Third, the lease of the sheds and grounds in the Links held by James Gibbon & Company as a ropeworks from 1 June 1810 for seven years at £63 annual rent with the option of a further seven years at £68 annual rent. The same was taken by the said James Gibbon & Company. Fourth, the lease of the ground in the Links held by Messrs Catto, Thomson & Company as a ropeworks from Martinmas 1810 for seven years at £25 annual rent with the option of a further seven years at £30 annual rent. The same was taken by William Johnston, merchant, on behalf of Messrs Catto, Thomson & Company at £27 15 shillings yearly rent for seven years [provisos concerning appreciations given]. Fifth, the lease for three years of the ground on the east side of the Pocra Road, held by John Catto, merchant from 1 June 1810 at £10 yearly rent [measurements given]. The Council approved the sale by public roup on 17 February 1810 of the feu of the ground along the west side of St Nicholas Street, [measurements given] next to the lot of William Young Esq on the south and the lot of Charles Winchester, advocate, on the north, to James Hardie, advocate in Aberdeen, on behalf of Francis Brodie, tailor in Aberdeen, at the annual feu duty of 5 shillings per foot. The Council empowered the magistrates to sell by public roup the lots of ground on the east side of the Pocra Road, held by Robert Garden, druggist and the late Alexander Burnett junior, merchant, due to expire 1 June 1810, along with any other lots on Pocra Road out of lease. (144v)
William Copland, advocate in Aberdeen, was appointed to continue in the office of Collector of Taxation for the City of Aberdeen with an allowance of £40 for the expense of collecting and risk of bad debt. Sureties were offered by Mr George More and Mr Alexander More, merchants in Aberdeen. (144v - 145r)
The Council authorised the sale by public roup of the leases of the Weigh House and Pack House Dues and of the Town's Ballast Lighters for one year from 1 June 1810. (145r)
The Council remitted to Mr Storey, Treasurer, the application from John Masson to be admitted as a metter at the Shore. (145r)
The Council resolved to oppose the claim made by the Master of the Trades Hospital to the Inches, situated within the Harbour and Flood Mark, on the grounds of Royal Charters granted to the Town and instructed the Town's Agent in Edinburgh to oppose the bill of suspension and interdict and the summons of declarator brought by the Trades Hospital.
