| Description | Council meeting, 26 June 1810 [Sederunt given] The Clerk laid before the Council a letter from Mr Alexander More to Mr Low, the Shoremaster, agreeing to renounce his lease of the Shore and Harbour Dues on receiving a suitable consideration [letter engrossed]. The Clerk also read from the text of a letter received from the Town's Agent, Robert Morice, detailing his opinion as regards the proposed submission to be entered into with Mr More. Subsequently the Council recommended that the Provost and Shoremaster meet with Mr Alexander More and their respective agents to adjust the terms of the submission to be entered into between the Shoremaster and the Tacksman of the Shore and Harbour Dues in view of the renunciation of the lease and to lay a draft before a future Council meeting. The Council remitted to a committee of the magistrates, Dean of Guild, Treasurer and Provost More, or any three of them, the application from James Gibb & Company for permission to extend their ropeworks into the Links. (157v - 158r) |
