| Description | Council meeting, 2 August 1810 The Council approved the sale by public roup of the lease for seven years of the Fishing and Croft of Poldown at Bridge of Dee belonging to the Master of Mortification, to James Spalding, advocate in Aberdeen, on behalf of John Davidson, merchant in Aberdeen, at the yearly rent of £100. The Council approved the sale by public roup to Mr Robert Gibbon, merchant in Aberdeen, of the lease for three years from Martinmas 1810 of the piece of ground currently held by Mr Gibbon as a dock and shipyard, situated on the east side of the High Road leading from Footdee to the Pocra Quay, at the yearly rent of £10. The Council resolved to increase the salary of the post of Superintendent of the Shore Metters and to advertise the position in the Aberdeen Journal following the death of James Singer, the former post-holder. (168r)
The Council accorded a vote of thanks to James Farquhar Esq, Member of Parliament for the District, for his services in carrying the Harbour Act through Parliament. (169v)
The Council resumed consideration of the memorial from Mr David Hume, advocate and Professor of Scots Law, giving his opinion on whether the Council had grounds to institute an action of reduction of the lease of the Shore and Harbour Dues to Alexander More. They subsequently resolved, with the exception of Baillie William Shepherd and Mr Johnston, to institute the said action before the Court of Session and remitted to a committee of magistrates and the Shoremaster this responsibility. Further, the Provost instructed the Clerk to employ an agent as the Town's Agent in Edinburgh, as Mr Innes of Cowie had declined the agency. (168v - 169r)
