Upon the motion of Baillie Garden, seconded by Mr Pirie, Dean of Guild, a resolution was passed by the Council to support James Farquhar Esq of Inverbervie, the Member of Parliament for this District of Burghs, in his candidacy for the parliamentary seat at the next General Election following the dissolution of Parliament. The Council further accorded him a vote of thanks for his representation of the Town during his term in office. (209v)
The recommendation by the old Council with respect to keeping the office bearers' accounts upon a new plan and principle, and the employment of a proper person to manage the said accounts, was approved by the Council, the consideration of which was remitted to a committee of the magistrates, Dean of Guild, Treasurer and Provost Hadden. The Council admitted one Burgess of Guild and one Craftsman. (210r) |
