| Description | Council meeting, 29 October 1811 [Sederunt given] Following the report of the Examinators of Competitors for Bursaries, the Council admitted the following to bursaries of four years duration at Marischal College; William Thomson, son of the deceased James Thomson junior, merchant in Aberdeen, and John Brebner, son of Peter Brebner of Jamaica, each to one of Sir Thomas Crombie's bursaries of £8; John Sim, son of George Sim, Burgess brewer in Aberdeen, to one of Katharine Rolland's bursaries of £8; William Downie, son of James Downie, shoemaker in Aberdeen, to one of Mr James Cargill's bursaries of £7; John Yeats, son of Alexander Yeats, Burgess vintner in Aberdeen, William Leslie, son of William Leslie, druggist in Aberdeen and William Paterson, son of William Paterson, bookseller in Aberdeen, each to one of Dr Duncan Liddel's bursaries of £5; William Westland, son of William Westland, wright in Aberdeen, to John Turner's bursary of £5.
