| Description | Council meeting, 17 December 1811 The whole members of Council The Council elected and appointed the Rev Mr Robert Doig, Minister of the Gospel in Aberdeen, to be one of the Ministers of the City in place of the late Rev Dr George Gordon with the yearly stipend of £200 and appointed a formal presentation to be made out in his favour and engrossed in the Council Register [presentation engrossed]. The Council appointed as a committee the Provost, Baillies Galen and Donald and Provost Hadden, along with the Clerk, or any two of them, to intimate the foresaid Act of Election and Presentation to the Rev Mr Robert Doig and to present it to the Presbytery of Aberdeen in order that they may take the necessary legal steps to secure Rev Doig as one of the Town's Ministers. The Council recommended the committee inform the Presbytery that it wished to delay the settlement and admission of Rev Doig until Martinmas 1812 in order that Dr Gordon's widow and family could receive the benefit of a half year's vacant stipend.
