| Description | Council meeting, 7 September 1819 [Sederunt given] The Council fixed 20 September 1819 for a meeting to appoint a Preacher of the Gospel in the College Church, in place of Dr Daniel Dewar who had been translated to the Tron Church in Glasgow. (206r)
The Council considered a petition from one hundred members of the congregation of the College Church requesting to be consulted in the appointment of a new minister, if Dr Dewar accepted the living of the Tron Church in Glasgow. The Council appointed Mr Carnegie, Town Clerk, to intimate the above Act of Council to Messrs Duguid, McCombie and Simpson, for them to apprise the petitioners. (206r - 206v) |
