The Council appointed Rev Mr Andrew Tawse as Preacher in the College Church, on the recommendation of Rev Dr Brown, Principal of Marischal College and Professor of Divinity, and numerous members of the congregation of the College Church. (The other candidate was Rev Mr William Burns, Minister at Dun, who was also proposed by numerous members of the congregation of the College Church.) The Council declared that the post earned no salary or stipend, but that Mr Tawse had liberty to take the seat rents as his income. [Details of the Preacher's duties and conditions are given, including the condition that all collections made during public worship should be paid into the United Funds for the Poor.] (206v - 208r)
