The Council admitted the following to bursaries of four years duration at Marischal College. James Nicol, son of Andrew Nicol, merchant; and William Andrews, son of the deceased George Andrews, merchant; each awarded one of Sir Thomas Crombie's bursaries of £9. George McConnochie, son of George McConnochie, schoolmaster, Logie Pert, Montrose was awarded Reid's bursary of £6. Charles Farquhar, son of Alexander Farquhar, farmer, Mill of Crimond, was awarded one of Turnerhall's bursaries of £5 11 shillings 1 pence. James Thomson, son of Francis Thomson, shoemaker, Aberdeen, was awarded one of Mr James Cargill's bursaries of £8. George Knox, son of George Knox, merchant and Burgess of Guild, was awarded one of Catharine Rolland's bursaries of £8. Joseph Law, son of William Law, shoemaker; and George Mowat, son of James Mowat, merchant; were each awarded one of Dr Duncan Liddel's bursaries of £5. (215r - 215v)
The Council authorised the Master of Kirk and Bridge Works to co- operate with the Gilcomston Brewery Company, tenants of the Mill of Gilcomston, to resist the Police Commissioners' plan to divert the Burnof Rubislaw away from the Mill of Gilcomston, which would deprive the Mill of a great proportion of its water supply.
