The Council appointed William Maitland, shoemaker, as assistant and successor to William Cowie, Precentor of the Psalm in the East Church, on the recommendation of Dr Ross and Mr Doig, the two Ministers of the East Church; William Maitland was to receive the yearly salary of the office of Precentor from the Kirk Work funds after the death of William Cowie. The Council recommended to the new Council to pursue proceedings relating to encroachments on the Loch and watercourses. (260v - 261r) |
