| Description | Council meeting, 27 June 1815 [Sederunt given] The Council perambulated the Inner Marches, and made the following observations. First, an interruption was taken against the locked gate erected by James Laurence, manufacturer, which obstructed the footpath along the side of the Burn of Gilcomston. Second, the Council recommended that action should be taken to re-open the foot road leading from the Spittal to Gallowhills, which was obstructed by a fence planted by a tenant of the Tailor trade. The Council remitted to the Master of Kirk and Bridge Work to make the repairs to the Bridge of Dee and the Bridge of Don recommended in the report by Messrs Smith and Gibb. [Report engrossed.] The Council remitted to the Standing Committee consideration of the report's recommendation that three stone jetties should be built to prevent the River Dee from encroaching further on the Town's property at Holding Tree. The Council elected James Hadden Esq, present Provost of Aberdeen, to be their Commissioner to the Convention of Royal Burghs to be held in Edinburgh on 11 July 1815, and elected Baillie Robert Garden to be his Assessor. (56v) |
