| Description | Council meeting, 5 November 1817 [Sederunt given] The Council appointed the Taxers and Stent Masters: David Chalmers and James Milne, two of the present Baillies; William Read, late Dean of Guild, Alexander Fraser, William Johnston, Alexander Galen, George Thomson, John Young, Alexander Simpson, William Shepherd, Robert Walker, John Collison, James Mouat, William Leslie, James Knowles, Alexander Walker, Charles Fyfe, Alexander Duthie junior and George Pirie, merchants; Charles Chalmers and James Grant, advocates; John Dunn and Adam Low, the two Trades councillors. The Council directed the Taxers and Stent Masters to raise the following sums: £526 10 shillings for the King's Subsidy for the year Martinmas 1816 to Martinmas 1817; minus the £69 12 shillings 8 pence 9/12 balance in the hands of the Treasurer from the previous year.
