The Council resolved to suspend the payment of pensions to George Gray and William Mortimer, not considering them proper objects of charity. (184r)

The Provost presented to the Council a letter from Lord Sidmouth, one of His Majesty's principal Secretaries of State, stating the Prince Regent's pleasure on receipt of the Council's address of condolence on the death of the Queen. (184r)

The Council empowered the City Chamberlain to pay to Mr Morice, the Town's Agent, the sum of £407 11 shillings 5 pence incurred in the proceedings in Edinburgh and London to secure the Prince Regent's warrant for an election at Michaelmas 1818. The Council remitted to the magistrates to allocate the sum to such of the Town's Funds as they deem proper. (184r - 184v)

The Council approved the report of the committee appointed to frame objections and alternative suggestions to the proposed site of the Jail at the Bridewell, which suggested that the area of ground attached to the Court House be increased by removing the New Inn stables to the Poultry Market, thus providing an area sufficient for the construction of the Jail. The committee stated that they had raised their objections at a meeting with the Commissioners, and had since sent a letter to Mr Burnett, clerk to the Commissioners, clarifying their proposals.
