| Description | COUNCIL REGISTER, VOLUME 71, FOLIOS 1r - 2r Annual election, 26 September 1821 [Sederunt given] The Council elected the following thirteen Burgesses to be members of the new Council for the year 1821 to 1822: John Young, Robert Walker, William Lumsden, Alexander Galen, Alexander Hadden, Alexander Stewart, James Mowat, James Brebner, James Lamond, Robert Duthie, John Whyte, William Brown and Andrew Duncan, all merchants in Aberdeen. (1r) The Council elected the following four members of the old Council to serve on the new Council: Provost Gavin Hadden, Baillie Alexander Brown, Baillie James Milne and Mr Alexander Brebner. (1r) The Council elected Deacon John Smith, glazier, and Deacon James Robb, wright, to be Trades councillors. (1v) The old and new Council, with the Convener and Deacons of Crafts (except Alexander Brebner, Alexander Mackie and James Hadden junior of the old Council and William Lumsden and William Brown of the new Council, in place of whom the Council elected George Hunter, William Selbie, William Cruickshank, George Henderson and David Thom, Burgesses of Guild, as assistants), elected the following office bearers for the year 1821 to 1822: Gavin Hadden - Provost Alexander Brown - Eldest Baillie James Milne - Second Baillie John Young - Third Baillie Alexander Stewart - Youngest Baillie James Brebner - Dean of Guild Robert Duthie - Treasurer William Brown - Master of Shoreworks James Lamond - Master of Kirk and Bridge Works Andrew Duncan - Master of Mortifications James Mowat - Master of the Guild Brethren's Hospital (1v - 2r) The Council elected the said Provost Gavin Hadden, Baillie James Milne and Baillie John Young to be Keepers of the Keys of the Town's Charter Chest for the year 1821 to 1822. (2r) The Council elected for the year 1821 to 1822 the Provost, four Baillies, Dean of Guild, Mr Alexander Brebner, Mr Robert Walker, Mr Alexander Galen and Mr John Whyte to be Commissioners of Infeftments; and the same gentlemen with the two Trades councillors to be Auditors of the Town's Accounts.
