The Provost reported that the magistrates had lately presented a memorial to the Commissioners appointed by His Majesty for visiting the Universities of Scotland concerning the inadequacy of the salary currently paid to the Professor of Divinity in Marischal College [memorial engrossed and signed by the Provost, Alexander Brown]. All which was approved by the Council. (215r - 217r)
The Provost reported that the Treasurer had borrowed since 20 June 1827 the following sums of money on the Town's account for the purpose of paying off sundry Treasury Creditors who had demanded the principal sums due to them. Bills for the same had been issued to the following lenders with interest at five percent:

The Provost laid before the Council the plan and elevation of the proposed new church at Footdee to be built east of the present church and reported that estimates had been lodged for the building and masonry of the said church and that George Duncan, mason, for the masonry, and James Byres, wright, for the carpentry work, had been awarded the contracts, their estimates of £865 and £999 respectively having been found to be the lowest. (217v - 218r)
The Council recommended to their successors in office the following matters; first, the measures to be adopted to carry out the proposed construction of a dam or reservoir along the Denburn at the Commonty of Whitemyres; second, to follow up the steps proposed for claiming the Town's reserved rights of quarries within the Freedom Lands agreeable to the clauses contained in the vassals' charters; third, to prosecute before the Teind Court the division of the Town into different parishes and the erection of a new church according to the approved agreement; fourth, to consider as Harbour Trustees the propriety of applying for a renewal of the present Harbour Act of Parliament which is near expiry.
