Hugh Lumsden Esq of Pitcaple, advocate and Ruling Elder, was elected to represent the City of Aberdeen as its Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh on 22 May 1828. (249v - 250r)
The Council agreed a donation of [no sum given] to the Managers of the Poor's Hospital and elected the following directors for the year ending Candlemas 1829; the Provost, magistrates and other members of the Town Council; Messrs William Davidson, George Lyall, George Thomson, James Dyce and George Hendry, merchants, Mr David Chalmers and Mr William Stratton, Drs Dyce and Davidson, Mr Carnegie, Town Clerk, Mr Hardie, Town Clerk Depute and the Master of the Trades Hospital. Upon the recommendation of the Faculty of Marischal College the Council presented Alexander Greig for one year to Sir Thomas Crombie's bursaries of £9, held last year by James Anderson, John Souter for one year to another of Sir Thomas Crombie's bursaries of £9, held last year by John Munro, and David Reith for one year to one of Dr Liddell's bursaries of £5, held last year by William Galen.
