The Provost laid before the Council the report of the examiners of the candidates for the office of Master of the Public Arithmetical and Mathematical School, the vacancy having arisen as a result of the resignation of Mr William Findlay who had been presented to the Church of the Parish of King Edward [report engrossed]. The Council approved the report and upon consideration appointed Mr James Gordon, private teacher in Aberdeen, to the said post over Mr James Robertson, schoolmaster at Pitsligo and Mr John Ramsay, private teacher in Aberdeen [terms and conditions engrossed].
