| Description | COUNCIL REGISTER, VOLUME 71, FOLIOS 156r - 157r Council meeting, 17 June 1826 [Sederunt given] The Provost made a statement to the Council respecting the vacancy in the College or Grey Friars Church and the proposed division of the Parish of St Nicholas into five separate parishes. Following various communications it was proposed by the magistrates that the division might be proceeded with and that the resignation of Mr Tawse from the College Church might be used as a means for keeping matters open, enabling the Committee to execute the scheme and afford an additional fund for the benefit of the Town's Ministers who, it was agreed, received unsuitable stipends. This plan was forwarded to the Presbytery of Aberdeen whose extract minute was now laid before the Council. It was decided to defer consideration of the matter until 28 June 1826. (156r - 157r) |
