| Description | COUNCIL REGISTER, VOLUME 71, FOLIOS 162r - 165r Council meeting, 2 August 1826 [Sederunt given] The Council elected the Rev Mr Abercrombie Gordon, Preacher of the Gospel in Aberdeen, to the vacant charge at the College Church, over Robert McCombie, schoolmaster of Inverury, nominated by Baillie Brown and seconded by Baillie Galen. He was appointed to hold the position for life and while no salary or stipend could be demanded from the magistrates or Council Mr Gordon was granted full authority to let and draw the seat rents of the said Church as his property during his continuance in office. (162r - 164v) The Council approved the sale by public roup in way of feu of a piece of ground on the west side of King Street, immediately south of Alexander Russel Esq of Aden's land, including the site of the proposed lane behind the same and an angular lot of ground adjoining thereto [measurements given] to Robert Shand of Hillside, on behalf of Mrs Janet Mitchell, at the yearly feu duty of £25. They further approved the sale by public roup in way of feu of a piece of ground on the south side of Union Street, west of the Union Bridge at Correction Wynd [measurements given] to John Chalmers, builder, at the yearly feu duty of £95.
