The Provost reported that the Treasurer had borrowed on 20 June 1826 the following sums of money on the Town's account for the purpose of paying off sundry Treasury Creditors who had demanded the principal sums due to them. Bills for the same had been issued to the following lenders with interest at five percent:
John Bruce, Holburn - £350
Alexander Galen Esq, in addition to £1,500 - £500
John Leith, coppersmith, in addition to £600 - £300
Peter Hay's Trustees, in addition to £850 - £100
Alexander Symmers, gardener - £300
Jane Gordon, in addition to £600 - £200
Mrs Elizabeth Copland, in addition to £110 - £50
