Following the report of the Examinators of Competitors for Bursaries, the Council admitted the following to bursaries of four years duration at Marischal College; each to Alphonsus Rose, son of Philip Rose, Stepney, London, and David Morrice, son of the late Alexander Morrice, merchant in London and Burgess, to one of Sir Thomas Crombie's bursaries of £9; each of Thomas Ewen, son of John Ewen, wood merchant in Aberdeen, and David Dyce, son of Dr William Dyce, physician in Aberdeen and Burgess, to one of Katharine Rolland's bursaries of £9; William Beaton, son of Alexander Beaton, merchant and Burgess, to one of James Cargill's bursaries of £9; James Wallace, son of George Wallace, mason in Aberdeen, to one of Sir Thomas Crombie's bursaries of £9; Alexander Anderson, son of Alexander Anderson, stonedresser, Kepplestone, to one of Mr James Milne's bursaries of £5; William Hunter, son of James Hunter, mason in Aberdeen, to Mr William Lorimer's bursary of £5; Thomas Walker, son of Alexander Walker, general agent in Aberdeen and Burgess, to one of Dr Duncan Liddell's bursaries of £5; James Roger, son of James Roger, farmer in Aberdeen and Burgess, to one of Dr Liddell's bursaries of £5. The Council appointed the Taxers and Stent Masters for the year Martinmas 1826 to Martinmas 1827: Alexander Duthie and James Brebner, two of the present Baillies; Alexander Duncan, Dean of Guild and John Whyte, late Dean of Guild; Robert Catto, Treasurer; Messrs William Mackie, William Pirie and James Lamond, George Thomson, William Catto, George Lyall, William Johnston, Robert Duthie, John Lumsden, Peter MacFarlane and John Maitland, all merchants in Aberdeen; John Ewing and Charles Chalmers, advocates; Deacon George Smith and Deacon George Michie, the two Trades Councillors.
The Council directed the Taxers and Stent Masters to raise the following sums: £526 10 shillings for the King's Subsidy; £96 12 shillings 6 pence for the Missive Dues and expenses incurred by the Commissioners to the Convention of Royal Burghs. (178v - 179v)
The Council appointed the Dean of Guild's Assessors for the year Michaelmas 1826 to Michaelmas 1827: Baillie James Milne, Baillie Robert Brown, John Whyte, late Dean of Guild, Messrs George Thomson, William Johnston, Robert Catto, Robert Duthie, William Mackie, William Catto, Alexander Galen, Alexander Simpson and William Pirie, all merchants in Aberdeen. The Council authorised the Treasurer to borrow at the ensuing term such sums of money as may be needed to enable him to pay off any of the Treasury Creditors who may demand their principal sums and grant bills or promissory notes to the same. (179v - 180r)
