Description | "Attested Copy by John Bishop of Murray of a Charter by King William the Lion granting to God, and the Church of the Holy Mary of Kinloss, and the Monks serving God therein, 5 Crofts, one in each of the Burghs of Invernys, Eren (Nairn), Foreys [Forres], Elgyn [Elgin], and Abyrden [Aberdeen]; said Crofts to be free of all Service etc. The King's Charter is Sealed at Melros [Melrose] in presence of David his Brother etc. The Bishops attestation is Dated at Spyni, on the feast of the beheading of St. John the Baptist (29th August) 1355.
