TitleAberdeen Burgh: Copy summons of burgh of Aberdeen against burgh of Old Aberdeen, anent dispute as to the Marches
Description"(Copy) Letters obtained at the instance of the Provost, Baillies, Council and Community of New Aberdeen Summoning the Provost and Rulers of Old Aberdeen to appear before the Privy Council to answer to the Complaint of the said Burgh of New Aberdeen, which states that the Inhabitants of the said Burgh mustering in obedience to the King's proclamation, proceeded, according to the Customs of the Burghs, to ride their Marches, when they were met by 200 of the Inhabitants of Old Aberdeen and many Gentlement of the Country, Armed with Tacks, Spears, Habgutts, Pistols, and had 'razed the Marches' of the said New Town for 2 miles within its property; which proceedings were unresisted by the Inhabitants of New Aberdeen, although they were well able to do so.
Said Letters are dated 27th April 1594."
