The Magistrate appoint the above named persons to be Town Guard this night the 15th August, 1760, to mount guard at 8 at night and continue till the next morning. James Abernethy Junior to be Captain, he is to cause patrol the streets at the usual hours and take up all persons who are found disturbing the peace and report to the Magistrate tomorrow as they will be answerable.
