| Description | It is unclear if it is of one event - several are definitely from a cycling fancy dress event held to raise money for the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in October 1936 based on comparison with newspaper reports on the Infirmary Day - or five separate events. There are five distinct sets of photographs: 1. Cycling fancy dress event, which was held in the Inverurie Market Place School playground (Images 1, 3, 7, 9, 15, 26-27, 29, 30, 32-33, 36, 40) 2. Groups of school children sat on grass (the children's dress seems light for October). (images 2, 4-6, 8, 14, 16, 23-25, 28, 31, 35, 37). 3. Group of young children walking down a lane waving Union Jack flags supervised by 5 or so women. (images 10,11, 13, 17-22). 4. Event with military unit on parade (images 12, 34, 41-44). 5. Group of children marching down a road with a few adult chaperones (images 38-39). They may be photos of different activities at the same event, or different events.
Majority of photographs in Easel Enlargement card folders and most have a number or letter marked on the folder (recorded in alternative reference field in this catalogue). Images 37-44 do not have a reference number or letter and 41-44 are not in card folders. |
