| Description | Accounts of subscriptions paid by individual members, each on a different page. The page number of the ledger corresponds with the member's shareholder number. Accounts were not transferred to new ledgers, hence each ledger continued in use as long as the accounts therein remained in operation. The ledgers are not indexed, but shareholder numbers for members with accounts open between 1901 and 1932 may be gleaned from the indexes to members (DD286/16/1-4).
The volumes numbered DD286/4/1-2 also contain accounts of loans to individual members, and general accounts of the Society from 1851 to 1866. Thereafter loan accounts and general accounts are noted in a separate ledger for borrowers and general accounts (DD286/4/1). |
