Description | Letter to Macdonald from A. Mollinger, Utrecht, writing that he has heard from George Reid that Macdonald wishes to have one of his sketches, and will post it to Macdonald's address as soon as possible. The subject of the painting is Meerkerk, a small town in South of Holland, showing the scene on a rainy day in September, asking Macdonald if he will send the painting to the exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1867, as Mollinger now cannot do so, pleased that his painting is amongst some of the greatest artists in Macdonald's collection, asking Macdonald to send him a bank order for £30 in return for the painting, 12 October 1866. |
