London, saying that if Macdonald offered him three times the price to do the painting again he would not accept it, but he is pleased that at least Macdonald likes it, he is pleased too that he will be represented in Macdonald's house which he still longs to visit, but his work is 'hard labour', he is hoping at least to have one work in the Royal Academy exhibition, he has no time even to visit friends a few miles away, but he cannot complain as he is proud to have their invitations, 17 January 1884 |
