Description | Letter to Alexander Macdonald of Kepplestone from Linley Sambourne, The Garrick Club, London, just returned from Thanet, comment on Gladstone and Disraeli's portrait, glad Macdonald liked the Academy cut, which Sambourne thinks is probably the best thing he has ever done and will be sent to the 'Black and White', he will sell it for 30 guineas ('about 10/ a head or less'), which it will easily make, but would like Macdonald to have it as then he might see it occasionally, he would offer it to him at 25 guineas, but he is not to take it unless he likes it, very sorry to have missed Macdonald in London but still hope to entertain him on a future visit, hoping also to visit him again, depending on Work, will miss the Artists' Benevolent Fund dinner as he has to meet his wife returning from Thanet, 14 May 1880 |
