DescriptionLetter dated 29 December 1882 to Macdonald from George Reid, R.S.A., 40 Heriot Row, Edinburgh, saying that John Forbes White will not lend his Orchardson to the Edinburgh exhibition, even though Orchardson is willing, asking if Macdonald is really willing to lend his Hook, dinner with the Blackie brothers, approach to Herdman regarding adding his portrait to Macdonald's collection, the Du Maurier portrait ought to be the best of the lot, Holman Hunt will be interesting to have, though the quality of a self-portrait might not be good, the Council have accepted Leighton's 'Phryne' for the exhibition, they were afraid of Dr. Begg before, dark weather is not good for work.
