DescriptionLetter to Alexander Macdonald of Kepplestone from John Everett Millais, Erigmore, Birnam, Perthshire, explaining that he has been away shooting and fishing and has only just seen the photographs of the jar and the pedestal, asks if he may come and see them in Aberdeen, he likes the inscription and the pedestal is a great gift, 'The winged handles are evidently a success', going now to Ballyoukan [?] to visit his brother-in-law and shoot and fish, then will return home to rest, his wife is tending to their daughter Sophy who is being treated for curvature and weakness of the spine, and will be receiving sea air at Broughty Ferry, hoping that the Calderons will visit them on their return from the Macdonalds, visit from Captain James and his wife, 22 August 1881
