Administrative History | Bankhead School opened in 1939 under the management of Aberdeen County Council. It was a Junior Secondary School by 1955 and was a Senior Secondary by 1963. By this time new buildings were under construction (opened in Nov 1964) and the school became an Academy. A further extension to the building was opened in 1973. Bankhead and Marlpool merged to form Bucksburn Academy in 2009.
