Administrative HistoryThe school was originally a parish school (located on the Charlestown Road) and was united with Lady Huntly's Female School (on the Huntly Road) in 1875 on the Huntly Road site. It was overseen by Aboyne and Glentanar Parish & School Board.

On 4 November 1901 the school was reopened by Lord and Lady Huntly after extensive alterations and additions. A Higher Grade School was opened in 1908/9.

In the 1970s the school was rebuilt on a joint primary and secondary campus on Bridgeview Road/Morvern Place, with integrated education and community facilities (encorporating the Deeside Community Centre and a new swimming pool). The school opened in 1974 and the new Community Centre and pool in May 1975.
