| Description | Sederunt section of the volume includes: copies of James Thain's deed of Mortification (1788); Thain's will (1788) and codicil (1794); terms of legacies from Robert Moir (1798), John Smith (1800), John Nicol (1795), James Farquhar (1800) and John Cushnie (1801); a copy of the dispostion for the purchase of the Shiprow house (1803); and an extract decreet of the dispute between Alexander Mearns and James Massie concerning the Shiprow property (1801, extract 1818).
Minute book contains minutes of Thain's Trustees, including their quarterly meetings which include a record of the names of pupils joining (name of child and guardian, child's age, designation and residence of guardian, and the person recommending them) and leaving (name of child and their destination) the school.
Extracts of the session's minutes relating to the visitation of Thain's School are included.
