DescriptionMinutes of meetings of the convened Council of Banff, 2 February 1740 - 6 December 1764.

Minutes of meetings of the Town Council, and of annual elections: councillors and magistrates in September; stent masters in February, Mar or April; a Commissioner to attend the Convention of Royal Burghs in May or June; and a Collector of the Cess in May or June.
The minute book includes information on schools (including the establishment of three new schools in the Grammar School, 3 February 1762); management of mortifications (James Gordon's coal fund, Winchester's mortification for the support of scholars, Thomas Murray's mortification for Guthrie Harbour, Dr Strachan's mortification), the repair and management of the harbour at Guthrie (table for bulking goods imported and exported engrossed at 11 Apr 1763); street construction and repair; the erection of new buildings at the Cross (including conditions of their erection, 16 May 1757); and the feuing of Gallowhill from 1755 and of Seatown from 1761. Admissions of burgesses are noted. Engrossed throughout are accounts for the collection of cess, bells and mortcloth dues, shore dues and the expenses of the Commissioner who attended the General Convention of Royal Burghs.
Matters of importance were referred to the Head Court for further discussion, notably the process brought against the Town relating to the meal riots in 1741, and the proposed exambion of lands with Lord Braco in 1756.
Also contains minutes of meetings of magistrates as Commissioners of Supply for levying a tax on windows and lights from 1748 onwards.
