Minutes of meetings of the Town Council, and of annual elections: councillors and magistrates in October, stent masters in Mar, and Ruling Elder to attend General Assembly in May.
The Town Council had jurisdiction over the Grammar School (minute book includes scale of fees payable by scholars, 2 Mar 1846), the Jail (until transfer to County Board of Prison Commissioners in 1840; minute book includes inventory of effects of Prison, 1 Jul 1840), Harbour (until transfer to Harbour Trustees in 1840), repairs to church, church yard, new market, battery, slaughter house and town clock. Royal addresses engrossed.
