The Dowager Marchioness (1819-1895) was born in Edinburgh as Emily Jane de Flahaut to Charles Joseph Comte de Flahaut (a general during the Napoleonic Wars) and his wife Margaret Mercer Elphinstone. The Marchioness' husband Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice 4th Marquess of Lansdowne inherited the marquessate in 1863. They had 3 children. The Dowager Marchioness died at Meikleour House in 1895. |
