Petition of John Cormack, Captain Pilot of the harbour of Stonehaven, states that: "James Gordon, Master of the Swift of Sunderland came into the harbour of Stonehaven, with his vessel, on Friday 25th February current, when it was blwoing a strong gale of wind, which rendered it necessary for him to have extra assistance for piloting in and safely mooring his said vessel in the said harbour. That the said James Gordon is due the Petitioner as Captain Pilot aforesaid the sum of one pound two shillings and six pence for piloting his vessel..." James Gordon summoned by Baillies to attend the Town House at 4 o'clock that afternoon. Gordon fails to appear, Baillies grant a warrant for officers of the court to search and apprehend him. 2.
