TitleStonehaven Burgh: Complaint William Young Esq and Procurator Fiscal to the Baillies of Stonehaven
DescriptionIn two parts. 1. The petition and complaint: "that William Hampton residing in Stonehaven and others have been in the practice for sometime past of feloneously collecting and carrying off the dung from the public streets of Stonehaven not withstanding they have not the smallest right or title thereto whatever. That this is an offence of the most pernicious tendency to the public weal? of the Burgh and is the more aggravated as the said William Hampton has persisted therein after hw was checked and reprimanded by your honours, and the public prosecutor for the commission thereof." Petition is asking for a warrant to search for and arrest William Hampton. Hampton faces a 20 shilling fine as well as to be liable for the value of the stolen dung. Hampton is also liable for the expense of the application procedure. Hampton was summed by the Baillies to appear before them at the Tolbooth. 2. Paper dated 23rd January 1805 declaring that the Baillies will use the Tolbooth as the jail to imprison delinquents in terms of the law.
